Displaying much improved performance in both batting and bowling departments, Odisha crushed Assam by 125 runs in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy East Zone under-19 one-day match at JSCA International Cricket Complex at Ranchi today. The thumping win came as a relief for the Odisha team, which had suffered a 159-run humiliating defeat in the opening league match against Bengal two days ago.
Electing to bat, Odisha rode on a half-century each by Sandeep Patnaik and Rajesh Dhuper to compile a healthy total of 253 for eight in 50 overs. In reply, Assam were bundled out for 128 in 42.3 overs.
Rajkishan Patel and Subham Nayak picked up three wickets each for the winners. Patel also shone with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 37.
